Envolve LLC’s new wellness program holds its first walking competition, the Step Up Challenge

Envolve LLC held its first step-counting challenge in March of 2021. This month-long initiative was part of the company’s newly founded Envolve Wellness Program.

"Envolve is committed to providing tools and resources to help our employees and residents improve their overall health and wellness,” said Jeff Ezekiel, President of Envolve Communities. “At the program’s inception, we partnered with a personal trainer [Travis Hill of Montgomery, AL] to provide weekly wellness content in the form of ‘Wellness Wednesday’ emails.”

These wellness tips include instructional workout videos, healthy recipes, and motivational messages—along with the opportunity for interaction with Travis through Q&A.

“All of this is provided at zero cost to our team members and those living at our communities,” said Cara Baker, SVP of Human Resources & Administration at Envolve Client Services Group. “A couple of months after the program’s founding, we decided to hold a friendly competition to help keep everyone motivated.”

Once signed up for the Envolve Wellness Program, residents and employees would download the associated app and integrate their step-counting device of choice (such as a FitBit or Apple Watch). Then they were all set to log as many steps as they could from March 1st through 31st while Wellness Coach Travis kept tabs on the leaderboards.

The resident who took the most steps was Michelle Heggie of Dickson, TN, and she was awarded with one month of free rent. Additionally, all residents who signed up for the Envolve Wellness Program during the Step Up Challenge (regardless of the number of steps taken) received $10 off of April’s rent.

The employee who took the most steps was Bridget Hammett of Montgomery, AL. She was given the choice of receiving the latest FitBit or a $200 gift card. The second-place employee winner was Andrea Jordan of Montgomery, AL, and the runner-up was Francisco Vlahos of Denver, CO (acknowledged with a $50 gift card). Finally, all employee participants were entered into a drawing (regardless of the number of steps taken). The two winners—Sirena James of Chicago, IL and D'Shalunta Hill of Mobile, AL—each received $300 gift cards.

“It was inspiring to see so many of our valued colleagues and residents really embrace this wellness challenge,” said Daniel Hughes, Chairman & CEO of Envolve LLC. “We already have more plans in the works for future competitions and health-related events, so stay tuned as we continue to Get Envolved!
