Envolve purchases lunch for Quail Creek residents from locally-owned Crawpappy’s
TULSA, OK — Individuals and local businesses alike have suffered greatly due to the effects of COVID-19, and the owners of Quail Creek Villa Apartments decided to do what they could to help. After selecting a beloved restaurant to patronize, they found out their good deed would almost immediately be paid forward!
Envolve LLC, one of the country’s largest affordable multifamily property owners and managers, wanted to support its communities during these difficult times. They decided to provide lunches for all residents of Quail Creek Villa on 10/26—but instead of purchasing from a chain restaurant, they chose locally owned Crawpappy’s.
“We’re always striving to live out our company tagline, which is ‘Making Communities Better Together,’” said Jeff Ezekiel, President of Envolve Communities (the Investment Portfolio division of Envolve LLC). “Envolve felt this was a wonderful way to not only help our residents during this time of need, but also support local restaurants that may be suffering sales-wise due to the pandemic.”
Since the event was held in October (Breast Cancer Awareness Month), a third opportunity to make a difference came up during the planning process.
“Loren at Crawpappy’s is a breast cancer survivor herself, so this is a cause near and dear to the restaurant,” said Dorie Byrd, Regional Manager at Envolve Communities. “They let us know that they’ll be giving $500 Visa gift cards to local breast cancer patients—funded in part by Envolve’s lunch purchases, as well as donations that Quail Creek’s staff and residents contributed leading up to the event. Donors were given pink ribbons on which to write a name or message of their choice, and these were sent over to Crawpappy’s to be hung up on their walls.”
Menus were placed in each unit’s doorway so the occupants could choose the specific meals they wanted. Options included chicken cordon bleu, Philly cheesesteak, Cajun pasta, red beans & rice, or a cheeseburger—along with delicious sides such as potato salad, homemade potato chips, and French fries. On the day of the lunch giveaway, most attendees opted to wear pink in honor of the cause. Additionally, those who ordered their sandwiches as wraps were delighted to see that the tortilla was colored bright pink to tie in with breast cancer awareness.
Many residents came downstairs to the community center to pick up their meals, but for those who were unable to do so, the Quail Creek team delivered the meals door-to-door. Envolve also provided fabric face masks to residents and staff.
“This event went smoothly, and the property was so excited to be treated to lunch,” said Pamela Kenyon, Community Manager at Quail Creek Villa. “Not only did everyone get fed, but the gesture was paid forward by all involved. It’s like the gift that keeps on giving!”
